A few months ago, Demonic Resurrection released their sixth studio album, 'Decades Of Darkness'- a sonically sludgy, grinding, suffused with pummeling rhythms. So DR's genre is a cataclysmic mix of death metal and symphonic black metal. They've definitely got the slick riffs and heavy drums that trash and doom skillfully. But the vocals never ceased to amaze me; it sounds like it was cut straight from hell. The deep guttural death metal vocals switch to clean vocals often, and they blend in perfectly well! And finally, the songwriting, I think that is like the cherry on top of their music. DR's music just hits you right to your core. It's got that skull-crushing vigour you just can't get enough of.
Decades of Darkness has four single releases and instrumental versions of the same songs.
Track Number one is ‘The Eye Of Eternity’ that was completely trashed with crashing drums, razor-sharp riffing and lung-busting vocals with the symphonic grandeur washing over it.
‘Non Serviam’ is riddled with venomous guttural vocals, devastating trash metal drums, a nasty burst of finger-bleeding guitar riffs and keyboard chiming. It just so jaw-droppingly haunting. Pure deafening goodness.
‘The Mask’ is a raging metal mayhem with insane riffing and trashing drums, pouring with all that bone-shattering energy. The Mask is that track that would shroud you in a cloud of trash metal. It would wreck your ears and crush your mind. Blissfully.
And ‘Necromancer’, the final track. This one sucks you into a symphonic death metal vortex surrounded by thick, dark and intense clouds, churning almost violently and aggressively that sort of suffocates you with all the crazy backdrop orchestration.
This album's got elements of extreme thrash and death metal with a soft symphonic kiss. It's unrelenting and raw. And the band's musical virtuosity, themes, aesthetics, and songwriting; it's just brilliant. Never a dull moment with this one.
