Alright, Grunge-folks! So this one’s a band from Vancouver that’s going to fill your ears with all that trashy sludgy sounds with punky, edgy lyrics that’ll set your heart racing, head bobbing and hair flying: The Jins! With raucous riffs, neck-snapping drums and bellowing bass, these guys are loud, hoarse and angsty, bringing back the grungy scenes of the 90s, hard and raw.

Their music is innovative, soulful, dark and melodramatic. It brings out the unpolished and imperfect grungy-ness through their gorgeously twisted melancholic cutting melodies that adhere to your mind's twisted edges.

Also, this post is all about their EP Death Wish. It's heavy, loud, and aggressive, with angsty and nihilistic lyrics, so it's a pretty musical ride.

The album starts with the track "She Said". It's a melodic raging punk rock with all that scratching and screaming vocals that blissfully torment your ears (dramatic much?). It's an intense blend of gravelly raspy vocals and gritty instrumental, a tad bit slower than the other songs in the album, but still rocks. It's also got that harsh, punky-attack with the high-impact lyrics that I love.

"Death Wish" is my favourite track on the album. This song has been stuck in my head for 4 days, and I'm not even mad about it. It's got that racing, vicious burst of guitars, thunderous drumming and the Larsen's raspy vocals (and that bestial scream at the end). With the paranoia-filled lyrics constructed purely of rage (laced with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour) seeping with deliberate sloppiness. The track bleeds with visceral screams, blasting guitar and a barrage of drums and bass. Oh, and the guitar solo was just so. Words cannot describe that jerk of electric excitement that kept tingling my bones; it was just, ugh, it's an experience.

"On Your Own" has the distorted sounds of the angst-ridden vulnerability of Nirvana, etched with Green Day's touch of gloom in the lyrics. It's heartfelt and painful. I like the lyrics in "Throw it Away". It is quite raw and emotional. This one's got the most dominating instrumental. Both the tracks have that dark, edgy and angsty lyrics that sort of spiral you down into a pit of confusion and darkness.

"Pop song" is the album's last track, and it's about a tale of regret and lost love. This one screams grunge-pop more than any other track on the album. It's got those catchy and fast-paced melodies that swoop you away. This is probably the most infectious and melodic track on the whole album.

They've got a lot going on here; it's edgy, primal and experimental. With their anguished vocals, poetically vulnerable lyrics, fuzzy, distorted guitar sounds and aggressive drumming, their music is filled with the intensity and authenticity of 90s grunge in full technicolour.

The Jins are an insanely brilliant band and we sure can't wait to hear from them!
